General Construction:
All wood used in the construction of parts and shelving will be kiln-dried hardwood containing moisture content of 5% - 7% at the time of fabrication. All woods will be selected for uniformity of grain and color. Wood used for internal parts will be selected to be structurally sound. |
Each lateral section assembly begins with a solid hardwood frames 7/8 thick. The frames are put together using mortise and tenon construction. All components interlock for stability. End panels consist of 13/16 thick solid hardwood lumber glued together to form solid wood ends. End panels receive a series of milling treatments, which allows the 3/8 thick backs, 7/8 thick front molding, Timberline SN-400 anti-tip snapper and 13/16 thick locking rails to be attached.
Each 3/8 thick veneered back on a section is milled so that it forms a locking connection with the section above it and below it. Backs are fastened using vinyl coated finishing nails.
| Sections receive two types of locking rails, which add stability to the section. The top rails 13/16 T x 33 L are nailed in place using a 1 ¼ vinyl coated finishing nails, and forms a male/female connection with the above section. At this connection a 3 L x 5/8 W steel ganging bar is used to keep the sections from tipping forward. The additional locking rail is added between the two ends and held in place using 5mm-doll construction. This rail serves as a catch for the optional LP 500-CB094 Timberline lock with modified cam, and as a stiffener for the lateral section.

Wood Finishes:
In the manufacturing process, hardwood parts are glued, cut to size, machine and finish sanded on a 2-head wide belt-finishing sander. Hardwood veneer end panels are finish sanded on a Heesman automatic veneer panel sander. Finish sanding of veneer panels and hardwood parts include the use of 100, 120, and 150 grit-sanding belts.
After parts are assembled into a freestanding unit, final hand sanding and inspection prepared the unit for the first finishing step. The selected color finish is hand applied and cloth wiped to provide a uniform color.
One coat of sealer is applied with an airless sprayer and allowed to cure. After curing, the sealer is sanded with 220 grit sandpaper to provide a uniform smooth surface.
A final lacquer topcoat is applied with an airless sprayer and cured in a heated drying room. The topcoat dries smooth to approximately a 30-sheen finish, which is resistant to normal wear and scratching.
UNIT DESCRIPTION:
The drawer boxes are four sided with a bottom. Four of the sides consist of ½ Birch veneer 9-ply plywood edge banded and sealed with a clear coat finish. The sides are hold together with dovetail construction. The drawer front is ¾ solid hardwood lumber, which is fastened to the drawer box with self-flashing steel wood screw. Bottoms of the drawers are ¼ Birch plywood. Two Timberline DC-400 drawer clips are put on each drawer box. All drawer boxes are suspended by Accuride model 4034 full extension heavy-duty glides. Glides have steel ball bearing and are rated up to 150 lbs.
The standard leg base is 7-1/4 H x 34-1/4 W x 19-7/8 D and is constructed of solid hardwood. The four solid wood aprons are join to the hardwood legs using a sliding dove tail joint to maximize strength. Two 13/16 T x 33 L hardwood rails are fasten to the top of the leg base frame for added stability and to form a male/female connection with the above lateral section.
Lateral crown is 3 H x 34-1/4 W x 19-7/8 D is a solid hardwood frame using mortise and tenon construction. Front, ends and back all solid hardwood. Top panel of the crown is a veneered hardwood. Backs on the crown are grooved to receive the back of below lateral section. The under side of the crown has two solid hardwood locking rail, which form a male/female connection with the below lateral section
